It seems quite a few of you have been unable to enlarge pictures…some can enlarge a bit by finger pinch/spread and a few were able to enlarge as it is supposed to be done. I thank you for the suggestions.

It would seem that if you click on the post blog….not just look at the email, you can then click on individual pictures to enlarge. You may have to, while you are on the post, press menu. Another mentioned that if they had clicked to make a comment (but not necessarily comment), they could enlarge the pictures that way. Also someone couldn’t enlarge on their phone but could on their PC. We just tried on Ms. L’s phone by going to the blog post. It worked!!! See if that helps. I’d like to find out from you the followers of my blog, if you are able to enlarge the pictures that I post. Apparently, some people are not able to. I put a big effort into the blog and would so like for you to see those pictures….. not as postage size but big and vibrant. I am able to on my devices by clicking on each picture and when done, flicking it away. If you have any bright ideas, please send me a note one way or the other by email, iMessage or Messenger….not on here. It’s too difficult.

The following pictures of our walk along the waters edge in Melaque. The plaque says it was built in 2021….probably a work project during Covid. They certainly did a beautiful job of it……January 9/24

Here we are in Melaque, Mexico. I left home on January 1st. I have come for a vacation from the miserable rainy, cold and windy weather at home. I left just in time, it seems. This as I said, is a vacation where we don’t have to be on the go somewhere every day, living out of a suitcase. Anyways, I don’t expect there will be any really exciting stories to tell or pictures to show so I will just be posting miscellaneous pictures

Last night’s hotel is the best in the country according to Moustapha. It must be based on the price of drinks. I had a tequila sunrise for 160 dirham…. About $16USD or almost 22CAD.

Atlas film studio… there are about 6 film studios in the area.

Women’s co-op where they made rugs, carding sheep’s wool and spinning it. It takes 1 year to year and half per carpet. They are self cleaning and reversible. They do not have heat so have different carpet in their homes for different season. 350,000 knots per sq. metre. Gift from mother to bride when wed. It is part-time work if they have time between other jobs in their life… like looking after their homes and families.

Ait Ben Haddou…250 steps up. Built in 17th century. It has been a UNESO world heritage site. There us to be no electricity but they do have water available. Solar panels are okay. 5 families still living here. The name translated means “family of son of Haddou”, was built because it was on caravan route. Moslem and Jewish synagogues. Used in Gladiator and Game of Thrones. There are a few cracks in the walls but the big wall at the top is clearly not what it was. Mustapha had been with a tour group and had seen a wedding around 10 pm the night of the earthquake. And then at just after 11Pm it struck. He heard the screaming coming from the people. How awful! He had been talking to his wife on his phone when clay stuff from the ceiling started falling on him. Then they were disconnected but only for a short time… maybe 10-15 minutes.

Coming into Marrakech we pass by upper class homes (more expensive) with golf course. Called “Red City” because colour clay (buildings), City of Joy & City of 7 Saints. Beautiful Mohammed VI street is 20 kms long.

I believe that a lot of you may have missed the last sentence of my last blog post. As you are all aware I only post when I travel but I would like to know if you would like to continue to receive or to NOT receive them. No pictures were allowed to be taken inside the Genocide Museum. Trust me that it is the most horrific story. I have a book that I bought there that would break your heart. If anyone cares to borrow it…..

Before beginning our climb, we were entertained by some of the former bush dwellers ( pygmies although not particularly short).

Bwindi is where we saw the mountain gorillas. The name of the park is Bwindi “Impenetrable” meaning that you cannot see through it….it is a jungle that has be slashed with machetes to get through.
